GENERAL JEWELLEREY CARE
Your jewellery should always be the last thing you put on when you dress up and the first thing you take off when you come home. Take off your jewellery while cleaning, working out, bathing or swimming in chlorinated or salt water.
In general, add your jewellery as a finishing touch, after makeup, hairspray and perfume.
A general clean from time to time will help to keep your beloved Lauriane jewellery looking beautiful.
Lauriane uses Sterling Silver and 24ct Yellow Gold Plated Silver throughout all the collections unless otherwise stated.
GOLD PLATED JEWELLERY
Gold plated jewellery will wear off over time, however you can ensure that it lasts as long as possible taking extra care when wearing, storing and cleaning.
Please take care when handling gold plated jewellery to protect the layer of gold from excess wear and scratching. Although gold-plated jewellery will not tarnish over time like silver, the gold appearance may slightly fade depending on wear and exposure to chemicals and cosmetics.
Avoid wearing gold plated jewellery whilst showering, bathing or swimming. Chlorine, in particular can permanently damage or discolour your gold plated jewellery.
STERLING SILVER JEWELLERYAll Lauriane silver pieces are handcrafted using 925 Sterling Silver.
Store your silver jewellery in a clean, dry place away from direct sun exposure.
Skin and hair products such as body lotions, perfumes and creams can react adversely with jewellery causing precious metals to tarnish and/or erode. It is advisable to apply any cosmetic products in advance of putting on jewellery.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY
When cleaning, very gently wipe your gold plated jewellery with a soft polishing cloth. Do not scrub or rub as this can prematurely wear away the layer of gold.
Silver jewellery can be cleaned in warm soapy water. Please ensure that it is rinsed thoroughly and dried before storing to avoid it tarnishing. Alternatively you can polish your silver jewellery with a soft polishing cloth.
After each wear, it is recommended to wipe jewellery clean with a soft, dry, lint-free polishing cloth, to remove any make-up or natural skin oils.
Cosmetics, sun block, perfume and hairspray all contain chemicals that can dramatically dull the luster of a pearl. The natural acids contained in body oils and perspiration can also damage pearls in the same way. It is best to put your pearls on at least 30 minutes after applying any personal care products, and to take your pearls off before getting ready for bed. A good rule of thumb to remember is that pearls should be the last things to put on and the first things to take off.
SIMPLE STEPS TO PROTECT YOUR PEARLSWiping the pearls with a damp, soft cloth after you wear them will ensure that they remain free of harmful build-up of compounds that may damage the nacre of your pearls. Pearls are best kept in a soft-lined jewellery box, just like our “eco LAURIANE box”. Never store your pearls in an airtight environment such as a zip lock bag. Pearls are organic and do contain trace amounts of water. Storing them in an airtight environment will cause them to become brittle and damage the luster.
In general, consider the following “rules of thumb” to keep your pearls pretty:
Wear your pearl jewellery regularly to avoid the mother of pearl layer drying out.
Avoid your pearls to come in to contact with cosmetic products, perfume, hairspray, cleaning products or other chemicals.
Do not wear your pearl jewellery while taking a bath or shower or while swimming.
Do not wear your pearl jewellery during activities which will cause perspiring.
Clean your pearls after wearing them. Simply wipe with a soft cloth, to remove any skin oils or dirt. A drop of olive oil on the cloth can be used to help maintain the shimmer and shine.
Store your pearls in a separate jewellery box to avoid scratching by other pieces of jewellery
